Consultations & Booking

Why do I need a consultation?

Every skin is different, which is why every journey at Skin by Freja begins with understanding your skin before deciding how best to treat it. During your consultation we'll discuss your concerns, treatment history, lifestyle, current skincare routine and goals, allowing me to develop a personalised treatment plan that's appropriate for your skin.

I'm not sure which treatment to book. What should I do?

That's completely normal—and in many ways, exactly why the consultation exists.

Most people know the concern they'd like to address, but not necessarily the treatment they need. Rather than trying to choose the "right" treatment yourself, simply book a consultation or a 90 min? facial. From there, we'll assess your skin together and decide on the most appropriate approach, you are never bound by what you book in - mostly it’s about getting your allocated time. I’ll always assess and we can always pivot on the day..

Is it okay if I've never had a professional skin treatment before?

Absolutely. Many clients visit for the first time feeling unsure where to begin. Every appointment is designed to be educational as well as personalised, so you'll leave with a clearer understanding of your skin and a plan that's tailored specifically to you. I’m always so honoured to be someone’s first..

Do I need to book a consultation before every treatment?

No. Once we've established your treatment plan, future appointments build upon that foundation. We'll continue to reassess your skin each visit and make adjustments as needed.

Before Your Appointment

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Preparation will vary depending on the treatment you're having, and you'll receive specific instructions prior to your visit.

As a general guide, avoid introducing new active skincare products immediately beforehand and let me know if there have been any changes to your health, medications or skincare routine.

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

Of course you can. I’m here to remove it for you. All treatments commence with a thorough double cleanse.

Should I stop using retinol before treatment?

Some treatments do require you to pause active ingredients beforehand. Specific instructions will be provided depending on the treatment you've booked. If you’re unsure, reach out or stop at least 1 day before treatment.

Can I have treatment if I've recently had Botox or filler?

Timing is important. Please let me know when you last had injectable treatments so I can advise on appropriate scheduling.

During Treatment

Will my treatment be personalised?

Always. No treatment begins without assessing your skin first. Even if you've had the same facial previously, your skin may need something different on the day.

Does treatment hurt?

Most treatments are very well tolerated.

Some, such as laser or skin needling, may create temporary warmth or discomfort, however every effort is made to ensure you're comfortable throughout your appointment. I'll always explain what to expect before we begin.

Why don't you offer the same treatment to everyone with the same concern?

Because skin doesn't behave that way. Two people may present with similar concerns but have very different underlying causes. My role isn't simply to match a treatment to a condition, it's to understand why your skin is behaving the way it is and recommend the most appropriate approach for you.

After Treatment

What should I expect after my appointment?

This depends on the treatment performed.

Some treatments involve little to no downtime, while others may result in temporary redness, sensitivity or flaking as part of the skin's natural healing process.

You'll always leave with clear aftercare instructions specific to your treatment, as well as open communication to my personal phone no.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

This depends on the treatment you've received. Where temporary avoidance is recommended, I'll discuss this with you before your appointment and include it in your aftercare instructions. It’s usually only the day of treatment if at all.

When can I exercise?

Heat can increase inflammation following certain treatments.

Depending on your treatment, you may be advised to avoid vigorous exercise, saunas or hot baths for 24-48 hours.

Can I go in the sun afterwards?

Please no.

Protecting your skin from UV exposure is particularly important following professional treatments.

This is about protecting your investment.

Daily SPF is always recommended, and after some treatments you'll be advised to avoid excessive sun exposure while the skin heals.

Results

How many treatments will I need?

There's rarely a single answer.

Some concerns respond beautifully after one treatment, while others require a series of appointments to create gradual, lasting change. This also depends on whether we are treating a more acute concern or maintaining healthy skin.

During your consultation we'll discuss realistic expectations and recommend a treatment plan tailored to your goals.

How soon will I see results?

Some treatments provide an immediate improvement in hydration or radiance, while others—particularly collagen-stimulating treatments—continue improving over several months as the skin naturally remodels.

How long do results last?

This depends on both the treatment and the concern being addressed. Skin is constantly changing, so maintenance treatments and appropriate homecare are often recommended to help preserve results over time.

Safety

Are your treatments suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. Sensitive skin often benefits greatly from a personalised approach, however treatment selection is always guided by the condition of your skin on the day. I’ll never select or perform a treatment that isn’t safe for your skin as it presents on the day.

Are your treatments safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Some treatments and skincare products are suitable during pregnancy, while others are not. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, please let me know when booking so we can recommend the safest options for you.

What if I have a medical condition?

Please let me know about any medical conditions, medications or recent procedures in your consultation form or prior to your appointment.

This allows me to determine whether treatment is appropriate or whether modifications are required.

Do I need laser treatment?

Not necessarily. Laser can be an incredibly effective option for certain concerns, but it's only one of many tools available.

If another treatment is likely to achieve a better outcome for your skin, that's what I'll recommend.

Homecare & Long-term Care

Do I need to purchase skincare?

Not at all. If you're already using products that are working well for your skin, there's often no reason to replace them. However, this area is often what is failing clients and why they end up with me in the first place. Where I do make recommendations, they're always made thoughtfully and with your long-term skin health in mind.

Can I continue using products I already own?

Often, yes. Rather than replacing everything, I prefer to build upon what's already working, drip feed products in without overwhelm and only recommend changes where they'll genuinely benefit your skin.

Will I need maintenance treatments?

Skin continues to change throughout life, so maintenance can play an important role in preserving the improvements we've achieved together. Your maintenance plan will always be tailored to your skin, lifestyle and goals.

How often should I have a facial?

There isn't one answer that suits everyone.

Some clients benefit from monthly appointments, while others visit seasonally or combine different treatments throughout the year.

Rather than following a fixed schedule, we'll recommend an approach that's appropriate for your skin and the goals we're working towards.

Pricing

Why don't you recommend the same treatment for everyone?

Because your skin deserves more than a standard protocol.

My recommendations are guided by your skin's individual needs rather than a fixed menu, ensuring you're only paying for treatments that are genuinely appropriate for you.

Do you offer treatment packages?

Yes. Treatment packages are available for selected services where a course of treatments is likely to provide the best outcome. We'll discuss these together during your consultation if they're appropriate for your treatment plan.
