Understanding persistent redness and sensitivity

Rosacea

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition most commonly characterised by persistent redness, flushing and increased sensitivity. Its development can be influenced by a combination of genetic predisposition, vascular reactivity, immune and inflammatory responses, impaired skin barrier function and changes within the skin's microbiome. Increased populations of Demodex mites - naturally occurring microorganisms that live within the follicles - can also contribute to inflammation in some people with rosacea.
