TMJ & Facial Tension
Over time, persistent muscular tension can contribute to jaw discomfort, headaches, restricted movement and a feeling of tightness or heaviness through the face, jaw, neck and scalp.

Rather than working with the muscles in isolation, treatment considers the interconnected relationship between the muscles, fascia, connective tissues and nervous system.
Advanced facial massage, fascial release and intraoral buccal techniques may be used to soften areas of held tension, improve tissue mobility, encourage circulation and create greater ease through the face and jaw.
Nervous-system support is woven throughout this work. Stress and heightened nervous-system activity can contribute to unconscious clenching and persistent muscular holding, so creating the conditions for the body to down-regulate is an important part of allowing tension to soften and release. Intentional touch, rhythmic movement and unhurried treatment create space for both the tissues and the nervous system to settle.
For clients experiencing significant jaw tension or a history of TMJ dysfunction, treatment may provide temporary relief from associated muscular symptoms; however, it is not intended to diagnose or treat an underlying temporomandibular disorder.
