The treatment begins with a detailed skin assessment and Skin Instant Lab® analysis where appropriate, measuring key markers including hydration, barrier function, elasticity, sebum and pigmentation. From here, highly concentrated professional formulations are layered through the skin according to its individual needs — from the iconic Lotion P50 and targeted serums to professional boosters, masques and finishing crèmes.
Biologique Recherche's distinctive manual methodology is woven throughout, incorporating draining, lifting and sculpting techniques developed with an understanding of facial anatomy to encourage circulation, support lymphatic flow and redefine facial contours.

What is a Skin Instant®?
Biologique Recherche approaches the skin as something dynamic rather than fixed. Your skin's condition can change according to climate, hormones, stress, sleep, lifestyle, environment and the products you're using.
Your Skin Instant® describes the condition of your skin at a particular moment. Assessing this allows the treatment and homecare prescription to respond to what the skin actually needs rather than treating according to a broad category such as "dry", "oily" or "mature".
What is the Skin Instant Lab®?
The Skin Instant Lab® is Biologique Recherche's professional skin analysis system. A series of specialised probes objectively measures key parameters including hydration, trans-epidermal water loss and barrier function, elasticity, sebum levels and pigmentation.
These measurements complement visual and tactile skin assessment and help guide the formulations selected during your treatment. They can also be repeated over time to objectively track changes in the skin.
What's the difference between the 75, 90 and 120-minute treatments?
The methodology remains the same; the additional time allows us to take it further.
The 75-minute treatment offers the complete foundations of a Biologique Recherche facial. At 90 minutes there is greater scope for professional boosters, additional targeted treatment stages and extended manual work. The 120-minute treatment allows the most comprehensive approach, with time for multiple boosters and/or treatment phases alongside significantly extended massage.
You don't necessarily need the longest treatment to achieve beautiful skin. The most appropriate option depends on your skin, goals and the kind of experience you're looking for.
Do I need to know which BR products or boosters I need?
No. Nothing needs to be selected beforehand.
Your skin is assessed first, and the products, boosters, serums and masques are chosen according to its condition on the day. This ability to adapt the treatment in real time is fundamental to the Biologique Recherche methodology.
What is Lotion P50?
Lotion P50 is one of Biologique Recherche's most iconic formulations and forms part of its skin preparation methodology. Rather than simply acting as a conventional toner, it is used to exfoliate, rebalance and prepare the epidermis for the highly concentrated formulations that follow.
There are different Lotion P50 formulations, and the appropriate version and application technique are selected according to your skin.
What makes a Biologique Recherche facial different?
The level of customisation.
A Biologique Recherche facial is distinctive both in the formulations themselves and in the methodology behind how they're used.
The products are cold-formulated to help preserve the integrity of their active ingredients, with high concentrations of botanical, marine and biotechnological extracts. Formulations prioritise efficacy over convention, often retaining the natural colour, texture and scent of their raw ingredients rather than disguising them for a more traditionally cosmetic experience.
Just as important is Biologique Recherche's Skin Instant® philosophy. Rather than categorising the skin into a fixed type and following a predetermined facial protocol, the skin is assessed as it presents on the day. Professional formulations, Lotion P50, serums, boosters, masques and finishing products are then selected according to its current condition and adapted as the treatment progresses.
These highly concentrated formulations are paired with Biologique Recherche's specialised application and manual techniques, including draining, lifting and sculpting movements designed to work with the skin and underlying facial structures.
No two Biologique Recherche facials need to be the same. It is the combination of potent formulations, precise methodology, skilled touch and complete personalisation that makes the experience so distinctive.
How often should I have one?
This depends on what we're trying to achieve. For active correction, treatments may initially be performed more regularly; for general skin health and maintenance, approximately every four to six weeks can work beautifully.
Your frequency will be guided by your Skin Instant®, homecare and any other clinical treatments we're incorporating.
Is there downtime?
Generally little to none.
Because exfoliation, boosters and professional formulations are individually selected, the intensity of the facial can be adjusted to the skin. Mild flushing or sensitivity may occasionally occur following more active treatment, and any expected response will be discussed beforehand.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Biologique Recherche facials can form part of a broader skin plan alongside treatments such as Laser Genesis, microneedling, targeted laser and professional peels, with appropriate spacing between treatments.
Dermalux LED may also be incorporated within the facial.
Is it pregnancy safe?
A Biologique Recherche facial can be adapted during pregnancy, but not every formulation or professional treatment is appropriate. Product selection and treatment intensity will therefore be modified according to pregnancy and breastfeeding status, and individual suitability will always be assessed beforehand.
What should I know before booking?
You don't need to arrive knowing what your skin needs or which Biologique Recherche products you want to use. That's the purpose of the assessment.
